This year is the ninth annual SiriusXM Top Comic Competition. The winner will be crowned as Canada’s best comic. There are 18 semi-finalists and three of them are Ottawa natives. They are Sophie Buddle, Kyle Brownrigg, and Roman Mancini.

Catch Apt613’s interviews with all three Ottawa native finalists:

All of them are competing for Canadian votes to win the grand prize of:

  • $25,000
  • A spot at JFL Sydney (Australia) in 2019
  • Spots at all three of Canada’s biggest comedy festivals: JFL42 (Toronto), JFL NorthWest (Vancouver), and Just For Laughs Montreal
  • Being included in a JFL television special

This year will also be the first time that the second and third place winners will receive a cash prize of $2,500 each.

The semi-finalists are looking for your votes from July 27 to August 17. Canadians have a chance to vote online daily for their top comic and at the end of the voting period, six people with the most votes will move on as finalists. There will also be two additional comics chosen by a panel of industry judges. The finale will take place in Toronto on September 27 at JFL42. Nikki Glaser will headline the show!
