Last Thursday night, during a sold-out, star-studded show at the Bronson Centre Music Theatre, the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition announced the winners of the 2023 Capital Music Awards.

Ottawa Pops Orchestra’s Artistic and Executive Director, Mathieu Roy, says the Stories Through Music series evolved organically from a need to just do something into a platform to give people voices.
Multi-award winning Twin Flames is led by Jaaji, an Inuk Mohawk man from Nunavik, and Chelsey June, an Algonquin Cree Métis woman from Ottawa. Their newest single “Battlefields” speaks to ending the stigma associated with mental health. Jaaji and Chelsey June speak about life as touring musicians and arts educators adapting to COVID-19.
