The first ever workshop to disrupt anti-Black racism using improv is taking place on Oct. 19 at The Grove Studio in Hintonburg.
Velvet Wells, creative producer, musician, comedian and all-around helpful person, is leading the workshop. Called Use Improve to Disrupt! Anti-Black Racism, they say that this workshop is designed for community members who have experienced anti-Blackness in public settings.

Ottawa filmmaker Hingman Leung’s short film “Curbside Pickup,” already fresh off an award at Digi60 film festival, is now a finalist for CBC’s Short Film Face Off, in the running for a production deal and $30,000 cash prize.
The Digi60 Filmmakers’ Festival launched their new virtual speaker series on February 25 with a deep dive into Black creators’ experiences in the Ottawa media industry.
