¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The events calendar is down — for now?

Lately, we’ve experienced *too much trouble* with Apartment613’s community events calendar. Organizers write in—it feels like every day now—to ask for help with the events submission form. (Recurring events are a nightmare. Feature image specs are complicated. The category/tag options straight up just stopped working some time this summer.)

Apt613 employs a small part-time staff. However, their role is intended to support 75+ volunteer contributors, edit the blog, organize meet-ups, and pay the web hosting bills. It takes several hours (weekly) to moderate and troubleshoot the events calendar these days… The cost is simply eating too much of Apt613’s limited budget. We could host events or attend yours instead. Just please be patient while we figure this calendar thing out. It’s not “bye,” just “bye for now.”

We will not fall short on our promise to share local arts and culture happenings on the blog and @apt613 social.

Look out for the Weekend Roundup, published every Thursday since 2009; refer to the @apt613 Facebook events calendar, curated by our social media team; and please don’t leave us hanging! Tag @apt613 on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to let us know what you’re up to. We’ll share/RT the best.

And in the meanwhile, subscribe to Artengine’s Artlist or Le Pressoir for daily/weekly listings in your inbox. A lot of your favourite venues and promoters write newsletters too. Some of our favourites are Debaser, Spectrasonic, SmallworldPossible Worlds, Writersfest, Arts Court, Shenkman Arts Centre, Meridian Theatres @ Centrepointe, La Nouvelle Scène, The Gladstone Theatre, Great Canadian Theatre Company, Ottawa Showbox, Ottawa Jazz Scene, and the Ottawa Art Gallery.

While we have you… Can you take two minutes to respond to this poll? We want your input toward a solution. Our readers survey results say the people want a calendar… but the website analytics can tell another story.
