Podcast: Ottawa Fury FC defender Kyle Porter

By Josh Lemoine on April 18, 2018

Ottawa Fury FC finally play their first home game of the 2018 USL season on Saturday, April 21 at 2pm. They’ll be looking for their first game of the season as they take on North Carolina FC. Ahead of the game, we had defender Kyle Porter on the show to talk about the season so far.

The team will also debut their new home kits, featuring black and red stripes. Porter thinks the new look is pretty sharp.

“I think they’re great. They’re bringing back that jersey from, I think it was the 2015 season, where Ottawa came close to winning the championship. I think the black and red colours stand out. It’s an intimidating look. It’s great to have those black and red stripes back.”

Porter played in Tampa for the 2017 season, but is back in Ottawa for a second stint, having played here in 2016. He credits his relationship with GM and former teammate Julian de Guzman with bringing him back.

“I’ve always respected him and looked to him for guidance throughout my career. He’s always respected me and my game. When things didn’t work out in Tampa, he was the first person I called, and from there things slowly started piecing together. He told me Nikola wanted to take a look at me, and after that it just took off.”
