Why travel when the world comes to Ottawa? The city’s almost endless series of summer international festivals kicks off this week with South Asia. While the main festivities of the Turkish Festival don’t start until next weekend, you can get a sneak peak with some films and a cooking demonstration on Friday and Saturday. Stay tuned for Lebanon and Africa later this month.
If you like something a little more high class, the Ottawa Stilts Union is presenting The Girl Who was Eaten by the Dark this Saturday… talk about haute couture! Or if you want to aim even higher, the Museum of Technology is having another of its Star Parties. Theater Buffs can get their hits either inside or out all weekend.
The lucky bastards who got tickets to the Poutine Crawl (you can still win tickets here courtesy of foodieprints) can work off all that grease on Sunday at the community capture the flag game. Speaking of food, if you have yet to visit the new farmer’s market in Orleans (Centrum Plaza between D’Arcy McGee’s & East Side Mario’s) go check it out this Friday and let us know what it’s like!
For those of you hitting up Bluesfest this weekend but looking for something different, the Mayfair Theatre is presenting Night of the Living Dead with a live score at the Barney Danson Stage on Friday at 9pm and Saturday at 9:30pm. (What’s the connection with the Blues you ask? Who’s sadder than a zombie?) Of course, Raw Sugar, The Blacksheep and Babylon are also alive with the sound of music.

“inside” and “out” theatre links should be switched!
