On Friday, July 23, at Mavericks (221 Rideau St.), Spectrasonic and Punkottawa.com present a Capital Pride 2010 Fundraiser featuring The Cliks and Hunter Valentine. Tickets are $12 in advance and available at Venus Envy, Vertigo Records and www.ticketweb.ca

The Cliks are a Toronto-based garage-rock band fronted by Lucas Silveira and a slew of guest- and touring-musicians. Silveira was the first openly transgendered male band leader to signed by a major label. “Snakehouse”, The Cliks major label debut on Tommy Boy and Warner Records, landed the band rave reviews and spots on the True Colors Tour in both 2007 and 2008. The Cliks most recent album, “Dirty King”, was released in 2009.

Hunter Valentine is an alternative-rock band from Toronto. Their new album “Lessons From The Late Night” was released on Tommy Boy/Universal in spring 2010. Produced by Ian Blurton (The Weakerthans, Skydiggers), Lessons From The Late Night is the bands most aggressive and honest recording to date.

Capital Pride 2010 is a week-long LGBT pride festival being held August 20-29 in Ottawa. The festival includes a parade marching through the downtown core, among many other events. For more information on Capital Pride, visit www.capitalpride.ca
