The big news last week was the 15 to 9 vote in favour of the Lansdowne Live redevelopment plan, which moved the city closer to a decision on the future of the site and closer to a re-introduction of a CFL team in Ottawa. The city remains divided with polls from last week indicating Ottawa residents are split over the issue.
Ottawa witnessed a standoff at the Minto Suite Hotel – that ended with 9 arrests. The police did not confirm if drugs or weapons were involved and no charges or names were released.
Ottawa played host to the Canadian Folk Music Awards where the big winner was Halifax-based (and frequent Ottawa performer) Joel Plaskett, who took home Contemporary Album of the Year and Producer of the Year.
The H1N1 vaccine drama continues to play out. Clinics maxed out supply last Friday, reopened on Wednesday and then the city added extra weekend clinics to try to speed things up.
It may not have made the front page of the Citizen, but Twitter fans this week celebrated the coming of Foursquare to Ottawa. Who will be the mayor of the 613?

For those interested in Foursquare, I wrote a newbie’s perspective on it here: http://www.ottawatonite.com/2009/11/welcome-to-ottawa-foursquare/
Not sure about this foursquare thing (although I must admit I adore the name). I made my peace quite comfortably with twitter, but this smacks a touch too strongly of marketing and tracking (although genius idea, and somewhat intriguing at the same time. City exploration as a game!).
