It seems appropriate, given that we had our first glimpse of snow yesterday, that suddenly craft fairs seem to be popping up everywhere. The following list is not exhaustive, and we’ll keep posting about various fairs as we discover them, but here are some occurring within the next few weeks:
The Yuletide Fair will be happening at the Dominion Chalmers United Church parking lot (355 Cooper – the parking lot is in the back), this Saturday Nov. 7 from 9:30am to 2pm. I hear rumours that their hot chocolate is pretty great (as are the crafts!).
Studio B (591 Bank St) is holding a jewelry and art sale on Nov. 8, from 12-5pm. It will also feature knits, accessories and, as seems to be an Ottawa tradition, cupcakes!
If you’re looking for more gourmet goodies, check out Craftalicious on Nov. 14 from 10am-5pm. Tasty treats will abound, alongside bags, magnets, lamps, games, soap and so much more. There will be live piano music and prizes to be had! This one is down at 217 First Ave, at St Matthew’s Hall. And, from Nov 12-15, the Ottawa Potter’s Guild is holding their fall sale.
Next up? The Glebe Collegiate Institute (212 Glebe Ave) is holding their Cans for Christmas Bazaar, wherein all proceeds go to the Ottawa Food Bank. The fun begins at 10am on Nov. 29, running until 4pm.
And last but oh-so-not the least, Ladyfest Ottawa is holding their Holiday Edition Tarts n’ Crafts show on December 5th. This event has exploded in popularity, so come early to avoid the line-ups. (If you do encounter line-ups, don’t be discouraged – the wait is definitely worth it!) It’s from 10am to 5pm, at Jack Purcell Community Centre (320 Jack Purcell Lane, just off Elgin). There’s usually a small entry fee, but you can come and go as you please once that’s paid!
UPDATE: We’ve discovered a few more, along with a DIY craft night courtesy of Spins and Needles!
Nov 29, from 10am to 5pm, Idle Hands craft show will be running down at Patrick Gordon Framing (160 Elm St). Apparently there will be gifts in all shapes and sizes for everyone naughty, nice and in-between!
Gallery 101 (301.5 Bank St) is hosting its annual 101 Frames event on Dec. 5. Their’s is a bit different than the others – it’s a silent auction and party, with awesome door prizes, rockin’ music and tasty food.
