Audio Visual Podcast Rundown July 15

Just because there were no interviews planned for AV this week doesn’t make the show any less awesome, especially when the two beloved AV hosts delve into geeky conversations about outdated Danish film movements and musical trends that should be outdated. An introduction to and debate about the merits of Dogme 95 starts off this week’s show in honour of the IFCO Dogme 95 challenge that took place on Thursday. After playing some Bluesfest-themed music, we discuss Auto-Tune, its use in YouTube Internet memes — viz. Auto-Tune The News — and whether or not it is time for the overuse of the dulcetifying plug-in fad to finally die. If Jay-Z says so through song (named “Death of AutoTune”, natch), we think it’s about time, too.

Music:

The National - “Karen”
Poorfolk - “All Too Well”
Japandroids - “I Quit Girls”
