The Gaga Weekend line-up will be ridonkulous!
This weekend should be awesome for live music fans in Ottawa. Apparently some blog is having a launch party at Raw Sugar. Westfest will host some great free shows and there’s the Gaga Weekend.
Many of you may be asking yourselves what that last one was. Because this will only be the second annual Gaga Weekend I can forgive you for being in the dark on this one. Just this once.
The Gaga Weekend is the brainchild of Ian Manhire. Between working a full-time job, heading his own label and playing in two awesome bands, Ian thought it would be cool to gather some of this city’s best dirty garage rock, punk and noise bands for a mini weekend-long festival. Because it was such a great success last year he thought he would go bigger and better the second time around.
If you were to attend all four Gaga Weekend shows you would get to see almost 30 bands for only $16! That’s quite the bang for your buck in these rough economic times.
Instead of telling you all about the Gaga Weekend myself I caught up with Ian just after he finished a recording session with his band The White Wires. You can find my interview below.
