I’m Peter Henderson, and I’m one half of the team behind Audio Visual, a weekly arts and culture radio show that plays Wednesdays from 12-1pm on CHUO FM 89.1, the University of Ottawa’s community radio station. A weekly podcast (with archives) is now being hosted here at Apartment613, and our latest show will be updated every Wednesday at 3pm. My wonderful co-host Tina Hassannia and I are excited to be a part of the team here. We’ll be keeping you aurally satiated with the latest cultural news and writing occasional updates about our adventures in the Ottawa arts community.

On Audio Visual we talk about local arts and culture, interview the movers and shakers of the Ottawa scene, and review the latest plays and performances in the nation’s capital. We also cover broader issues like the recent arts funding controversy, the impact of technology and new media on our daily lives, and how the cultural industry is changing from Time Warner to the local indie record shop. Tina and I both love this city and its scene, and we do our best to make our listeners love it too. Previous guests on Audio Visual include author Jonathan Goldstein, journalist Marcus McCann, and musician and organizer Luca Furgiuele of Ennuie.
Though Tina and I love to talk, it’s not all we get up to during our hour of power. Audio Visual features new music from local and international artists and our show is never short of variety. Upcoming plans include an in-studio performance by a local band, comedy from some of our local funnymen (and funnywomen), and audio snapshots from some of the great local events we preview. We’re always looking for great stories or hot new sounds, and any questions or comments about the show can be directed to info at the bystander.ca.
